Welcome! My name is Luyin Zhang and I am a PhD candidate in Population Studies at Princeton University. My research interests include formal demography and social science genomics.
My current research has both substantive and methodological components.
- Substantively, I study how social environments and genetic factors — including individuals’ own genotypes and the genotypes of others — jointly shape life-course and health outcomes, such as assortative mating and substance use.
- Methodologically, I develop and apply sociogenomic tools to facilitate more inclusive research in diverse populations and to study inequality, stratification, and population heterogeneity.
When not working, I alternate between staying in and going everywhere. I enjoy horse riding, dancing, and traveling, especially where conversations happen through my limited vocabulary and body language (plus optimism)!
